Introduction to Computer Vision
In the first course of the Computer Vision for Engineering and Science specialization, you’ll be introduced to computer vision. You'll learn and use the most common algorithms for feature detection, extraction, and matching to align satellite images and stitch images together to create a single image of a larger scene. Features are used in applications like motion estimation, object tracking, and machine learning. You’ll use features to estimate geometric transformations between images and perform image registration. Registration is important whenever you need to compare images of the same scene taken at different times or combine images acquired from different scientific instruments, as is common with hyperspectral and medical images. You will use MATLAB throughout this course. While prescription opioids serve an invaluable role for the treatment of cancer pain and pain at the end of life, their overuse for acute and chronic non-cancer pain as well as the increasing availability of heroin and illicit fentanyl, have contributed to the highest rates of overdose and opioid addiction in U.S. history. Evidence-informed solutions are urgently needed to address these issues and to promote high-quality care for those with pain. This course and the report it is based on are a response to that need. They offer timely information and a path forward for all who are committed to addressing injuries and deaths associated with opioids in the United States.

Análisis de Sistemas Eléctricos y Transición Energética
En nuestra sociedad, nos hemos fijado metas que permitan reducir nuestra dependencia de recursos energéticos no renovables, en especial de los combustibles fósiles. Por lo tanto, se han planteado incentivos hacia lo que se denomina transición energética. En el ámbito del sector eléctrico, esa transición se ha centrado principalmente en la integración de fuentes no convencionales de energías renovables (FNCER) como la energía solar y eólica, así como el almacenamiento de esta en baterías, además de promover el desarrollo de la movilidad eléctrica. Es importante tener en cuenta que en la medida que aumenta la integración de las FNCER se debe reconocer los posibles impactos en la operación del sistema de potencia. Estos impactos se podrán establecer con las técnicas analíticas de los sistemas de potencia. En este curso queremos brindarle un panorama del análisis de los sistemas eléctricos de potencia teniendo en cuenta la transición energética en la cadena de valor del sector eléctrico: generación, transmisión, distribución y uso final de la energía eléctrica. Este panorama te permitirá entender los impactos de la transición energética en los sistemas de potencia, y la manera como se pueden formalizar desde las técnicas de análisis de sistemas de potencia. El curso provee conceptos y técnicas de análisis de manera práctica, de fácil uso y apropiación, para que se aprenda sobre el rol de los ingenieros de sistemas de potencia que afrontan la transición energética, e identifiquen, además, las oportunidades de formación y desarrollo profesional en el sector energético, y, en particular, en la interesante área de los sistemas eléctricos de potencia.
